the day you became a woman! we had kind of a busy day- i was out running errands half the morning and then grandma came over, so you didn't even tell me until we were cleaning up dinner! poor girl. you later commented that pads were so much more comfortable than the tp you'd been using all day haha. you felt ready, thank goodness! we read the books together and i think i prepared you well by discussing my own period, etc. and you said you knew exactly what was going on and weren't scared or upset at all. we ordered you your own reusable pads and then we went out to a celebratory dinner! we told you you could go fancy- like soup dumplings at the mall fancy, but you had your heart set on Red Robin (you'd been craving it in MX the whole time and we still hadn't had it 3 weeks later ha). we went to goodwill pay by weight where you "rescued" 2 little stuffies (Bamboo & Noodle), walked around Target where i made you try on a fancy jacket and you asked, "Is this illegal?!", and went to RR where you got a mushroom burger (adult size) but didn't eat half of it and filled up on fries and freckled lemonade haha. we talked, you asked a few questions you still had, i explained all about the 4 cycles women go through each month (men=sun, women=moon) and we figured out if we should tell June because she was soooo jealous. you were getting this fancy dinner and i told you that you can have an extra piece of chocolate every day of your period and she was like "why does she get candy and I doooooon't?!" so we had to tell her ;)

anyway, just wanted to document this important day in your life. 11.5 years old. beautiful as can be. and now a little woman.... growing up so fast! i love you so much and i pray you will always come to me with your questions and with your big news and changes that you're going through. I know teenagerhood/puberty can be a trying time for girls. you can feel uncertain and uncomfortable in your own body and ways. i pray that your family gives you so much confidence to be who you are. to follow your own passions. to work hard at what you love. to give generously. to love the Lord with your whole heart. and most of all, i pray often that you would find a husband who LOVES the Lord more than anything else in his life. that your husband would lead you to the Lord more and more every day. and that you would know joy in your life- in your relationships with your family- present and future and in the work that the Lord gives you to do. you are a dreamer and i love to hear your heart and see you start to work hard toward what you want! spanish, writing, working with kiddos & animals... you go girl! i mean... you go woman!
