9.5

girlie, you are about to be 9 and a half years old! wow wow wow time is just flying by. You are becoming such a little lady and I can't believe I get a front row seat to watch you just blossom into this beautiful young woman. You are getting so tall- you easily come to my shoulders now and I think you'll be taller than me in a few short years. Your feet are jumbo and you are in like size 4/5 women's shoes already! You steal my socks all the time ;) You got BRACES and they made you look so much older- and they are super adorable. you talk with a little lisp now and you are so bummed about no popcorn or gum, but we got you pirate's booty and it is just for you so that helps ease the sting a bit. you are THE best big sister I have ever seen- the way you love your little siblings blows me away. you are naturally so gifted with children. It is clear the Lord has given you a heart overflowing with grace toward littles and I can't wait to see where that takes you in life. You talk about running a daycare (as did I as a girl!) and you say you want like 20 children- you often say you will be adopting and pregnant at the same time haha. and you would love to have multiple sets of twins! you are very confident that I will have all the time in the world to help you with the kids (and I sure would love to!). Your latest dream job as a grown up is to have an apartment complex of your own, but make it similar to ones in colder climates- with in-apartment daycare, grocery store, restaurants, etc. like its own little town but all in one building. and you have told all your family that you will have an apartment for them for free, provided they work at your complex! you told Grandma Sandee that she will have to watch your kids in the daycare while you run the apartment ha. I love your bustling mind and all the entrepreneurial things you think up! You also just came up with the invention of a germ-showing flashlight. we had talked about blue light this week and how butterflies and bees see in blue light which paints bullseyes on flowers and i think that is where your mind ran from. it is a great idea! How to actually do it? no idea. but i hope you don't give up on your dreams just cuz your mama isn't a science lady. Let's see... you are still obsessed with hamburgers and the color yellow. you love to sing. you have started really enjoying showers instead of baths (half the time). you are super interested in learning Spanish- and very self-motivated! You downloaded DuoLingo and do it every night. I think we are signing you up for an online group Spanish class with an awesome teacher- Flor who only speaks in Spanish with you! gooo girlie. plus your dad and Ita will be helping you along. I am super proud of your motivation and the work you are putting in! We struggle with attitude a lot- that is the one area where we are constantly having conversations. You don't love to do your school work- you would so much rather run free outside or play Barbies or read a book or play with your siblings, etc. so often, you throw shade when I tell you it is time to stop playing and sit and do your work. we are working on making school more fun- like with teaching textbooks, so I pray that you will start to see the rest of your school work the way you see Spanish. we are probably joining a 2nd co-op next week- we actually knew many of the people at the info. meeting and you already knew 3 of the girls there! and I am really needing more social time in my life so I am excited about it. Now our school week will look like big co-op on Mondays, Miss Rosie's house on Tuesdays for social studies/history/science, and co-op at our house on Thursdays. so we will need to really focus on fitting in plenty of language arts and math around all the extra fun stuff! plus somewhere in there, your Spanish class. and you really want to do gymnastics classes again. and Dad always has you in a golf class. busy busy busy. life just keeps getting busier as you grow and mature and have so many interesting and fun things to do! I love it. I can't wait to watch you find your niches and just run with them! i am always your biggest cheerleader, my love. I hope you know that with every fiber of your being. that i love YOU for who you are. for who God made you to be! You are full of life and energy and joy and you are sarcastic and hilarious and fun. you are a hard worker when you want to be. you are stubborn, naturally athletic, and a mama's girl still. you are growing up too fast for me! I have loved every season of being your mom- from the newborn days where I was overwhelmed with everything so new to the adorable toddler days where you didn't like your new sister to the 5 year old days where we started homeschooling and you got a new brother, etc. your life has never slowed down- always an adventure! You have learned how to start a load of laundry now and you are really getting good at hand-washing dishes (thanks no dishwasher house!). You were obsessed with the book series "The Cupcake Club" and you are obsessed with playing with your cousins- like you plan everything in the summer around it. you worked hard on the farm many mornings this past summer and made a good amount of money. you get a bit frustrated in how I make you spend your $- you have to want it for at least a few weeks, no impulse buys. and then we spend time finding a good deal and making sure it is a reputable company, etc. so we finally let you spend $100 on a new Barbie dream house (even though you already had one?) because you really really wanted to. Dad is almost done helping you build it! You actually really love building things and working with wood and tools- we should probably lean into that- what a handy skill to have in life! You are super into Pokémon Go and you love texting with people on your iPad (especially Grandma Sandee and Oma Cory!). You have your own bedroom upstairs with all your stuff and clothing and you love hanging out up there, but every night you sleep on the top bunk in Eleanor's room (cute!). Well, my sweet girl, there is a quick snapshot of who you are in this season and I pray that you just melt at how precious you are when you read this as an adult. You are such a beautiful and wonderful and fun and unique little girl and I am overjoyed to watch you live each day and to be the recipient of your goodnight hugs and sweetness. Last night, you snuck into mom and dad's room while we were watching tv (we have the projector and watch on the ceiling) and I didn't hear you, but you came right by my face and scared me SO bad! you laughed hard. I love your mischief and jokes. and then this morning, you took a shower to help your stuffy nose before heading off to Miss Rosie's and you took some paint and wrote "I <3 family" on the shower wall- awwww. Never grow up. always stay so sweet and innocent. but then we had some convos over breakfast this morning about the Nazi's (you're reading # the Stars with Miss Rosie), finding a man to marry who is of high character and would choose you every day even if you lose your good looks or end up paralyzed, and why there are drugs available in our world. big, grown-up topics that I can hardly even believe you're old enough to be having, but you are! I love you, Johanna Maria and I hope you know that I pray over you every day- that you would love the Lord with all your heart, mind and soul. that you would do big things for the Kingdom of the Lord. that you would know deep joy in this life and live to an old age and get to be a great-grandma! so many dreams and hopes I have for you in my heart and I am so thankful for every day I get to watch you grow up. You are my precious baby and forever will be <3 <3 <3
